Hey there, I'm Galuh
A product designer based in Jakarta, Indonesia. I've called myself a designer, an engineer, and sometimes both. But product designer is still the one that feels most like me.
I started with engineering in high school. At 15, I was already learning about code, servers, database, and networks. In 2020, while I was still in high school, COVID hit and my family felt the economic impact too.
I started thinking about how I could make money, and that's when I discovered freelancing through a logo design tutorial by Rio Purba on YouTube. I started with logos, found my way into UI design, and quickly got hooked.
Not long after, I entered a contest on 99designs, won my first $300, and literally jumped around the house. That small win led to more projects, referrals, and people I still learn from today.
There were awkward moments too. I once turned down two potential clients from Dribbble because they wanted a video call and I wasn't confident speaking English. It made me feel like I was falling behind and missing opportunities.
But I remembered Steve Jobs once said: “Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith.” So I took a chance and used some of my savings to join a course at JagoBahasa. I spent months learning and practicing, and now, when someone asks for a quick call, I don't think twice.
Today, I'm self-employed and building Clarta Studio. Before that, I worked remotely as a product designer with Kree8 Studio, an India-based studio, in 2025, where I designed digital products and websites with their team.
Outside of work, I'm usually watching movies, playing football or tennis, running, traveling, or looking for good food. I also get random ideas in the shower and somehow end up building some of them late at night.
I recently graduated in 2026 with my bachelor's degree, and I'm open to full-time roles, startup opportunities, collaborations, international opportunities or simply be friends!
